That’s weird: the minute Italy win their first game in eons, managing their way against lethargic Samoans (honestly, they were so not there.) in one of the most boring games I’ve ever seen, Scotland lose to Argentina basically the same way they won against Australia last week, id est by a drop goal. Also, Scotland v Argentina was a really odd game: first half was all Scotland going grrrrrrr and attack attack attack like there’s no tomorrow, and that was good, second half was the other way ’round. What the hell was that?

And as for Nathan Hines being sin-binned, well, I saw that (before the French web-streaming went awol — after that I could only rely on the BBC Radio Scotland commentary, which was fun, yet I would’ve actually preferred being able to actually watch the game… <Miranda Priestly mode: on> Why is it so impossible to put together a decent web-stream? Why is no-one ready? Why can’t Italian TV broadcast international rugby whereas they’re so keen on feeding us football, even of the lamest division, at any time of the day? </Miranda Priestley mode: off>), it started like a decent tackle, it ended like a wrestling-style pinfall. Someone should remind Big Nathan he’s not André the Giant reincarnated, thank you very muckle.

But, hey, that’s OK, winning two games out of three isn’t bad at all, despite Lamont lamenting (have been chuckling over this lame choice of words all evening yesterday) missed chances. You won against Fiji, you won against Australia, I’m so very proud of you, guys!
