I was there, watching Angel reruns on Rai4 like any other insomniac would do, and he was just about to go and find Holtz, the guy who kidnapped Connor/Steven/whatshisname, I mean Angel’s son, who in the past two weeks had been raised in Quor’Toth — tho two weeks in Quor’Toth are, like, fifteen, sixteen years on planet Earth or something so now Connor/Steven/whatshisname, I mean Angel’s son is a teenager due to sit for his O levels or something — and then…
NO SIGNAL.
Live as-it-happens on my TV screen: soddin’ analog switch-off (or switchover, or whatever it’s called, I don’t care, really.).
So I tried to retune the darn decoder thingy to see if I could watch the rest of the episode, but nothing happened. Still NO SIGNAL.
Bummer.
Tho I can still view the shopping TV channel alright, mind you.
When it works, like here in the UK, it’s called a switchover.
I got my first Freeview box over 5 years ago and the change from 4 and a quarter channels (because 5ive really isn’t telly) to Digital Terrestrial was just great!
Even now that I have Sky+ with the bells and whistles I know I’d be just as happy with FV again as long as I have a box that records or a dvd player attached to the box.
By the sounds of it though the one in Italy it’s definitely a switchoff.
This morning Raiuno, Raidue and Raitre have disappeared altogether from their usual spots, to reappear somewhere else (pixelated), though there are channels formerly (yesterday) known as “rai test” that now are called “test raiuno” “test raidue” “test raitre” which are working better than the non-test ones.
Mediaset channels still have a poo signal (they’re too heavily pixelated).
But as long as Rai4 is working again, I can cope (although I’ve just discovered they got rights to Angel up to season 3 included, and they telecast the last episode of season 3 yesterday… apparently, they’re starting it over again today with episode 1 of season 1. D’oh.)

Ancora una fetecchia: raiuno, raidue e raitre non sono visibili sulle frequenze ufficiali, però su quelle di test sì (non ha senso, lo so); i canali mediaset si vedono una fetecchia, tutti pixelati e/o “no segnale”; la7 sta fissa su “no segnale”… insomma, un disastro.
Insomma sono andati in produzione senza aver testato – un classico.
