Apparently, they’re trying to put together an Italian all-bloggers football teamNazionale Italiana Calcio Bloggers.

Of course, being football (that’s soccer, for US residents) the main national religion sport here in Italy, I reckon that can be done quite easily, as there’s plenty of people playing either football or calcetto as a leisure sport – or thinking they can play football, which is not the same thing even if they think it is.

They’re going to have a very long bench, anyway – good luck with that.

Wonder if they’re going to turn barcamps into training sessions, and if regular players will be sporting a purple badge while replacements will be given just a blue one…

As of myself, I think I can cope with an oval ball, but a spherical one? Bouncing it comes natural to me as when I was young[er] I used to play basketball, or, worst case scenario, I can (badly) play volleyball with it. But running about on a pitch while kicking it? Uhm, I don’t think so.

(if they wish, I can go and take pictures of the games, though – I’m sort of specialising in sport photographyalright, in rugby photography, mainly, but if I can picture rugby then I suppose I can picture football as well.)

So, I think I’ll pass on this one, waiting for the day someone eventually tries putting together a Nazionale Italiana Rugby Bloggers (which is as likely to be set up in the near future as an Italian bloggers’ curling team, I’m afraid.) – in which, of course, since Fiore is going to teach me how to place kick, I’ll be starting at full-back. Haha.

  1. Fiore Said,

footballers never have an original idea… ;-)
in Italy we already have a rugby team called AllBluff, which was created in 2000 by members of the “famous” RUGBYLIST, a mailing list with people from all over Italy. The Allbluff team has played and organised many friendly games and has also taken part to Beach Rugby tournaments.

As for teaching you how to place kick… well, as far as you can kick into touch, you can play at full-back already! ;-)

  2. Giorgia Said,

Fiore – yep, but All Bluffs don’t have a blog (they have a website, alright, although it’s not updated often enough – for instance, at the moment there’s a pre-summer beach rugby tournament entry on the homepage.)…

p.s.: must practice both place and drop kicking, then. Will do so kicking bums during tonight’s assemblea di condominio – I don’t know the English for that, and don’t even want to know, as when I move to UK I’ll be living in a townhouse with private garden, so who cares. :)

  3. Fiore Said,

Yes yes, I know the Allbluff are not bloggers, but they have been pioneers of the cyberspace turned reality experience! ;-)

PS kicking butts is always a good exercise! ;-)
